A Better, Brighter UNLV
When Steve and Denny Horn moved to southern Nevada more than 10 years ago, they arrived with open minds and open hearts—and from the beginning they considered Clark County "home." And so it seemed entirely natural that their collegiate loyalty would reside with UNLV.
"We both have lived in other cities and attended other colleges," explains Steve Horn. "But we want to do our part to make UNLV bigger and better. The first time we toured campus, it was very impressive. The names on the buildings showed that donors had made a difference to UNLV. We wanted to make a difference, too."
The Horns will be making a difference by including a significant gift to UNLV in their estate plan. Their bequest will fund the Steven and Deanna "Denny" Horn Scholarship, an annual award that will help Nevada residents who want to pursue careers in medicine and medical research. As an endowed fund, the scholarship will create a legacy for the Horns that will last in perpetuity— and help generations of young students who have big aspirations.
"Wherever you live, that is home," Denny says. "And living in Clark County, we want our university to be the best." Adds her husband Steve, "We want UNLV to represent Nevada and show the world that we have a world-class institution of higher education."
